Abstract: Abalkin is an outstanding Soviet economist and an expert on economic theory, economic policy and ec-onomic system. He has been committed to the study of how the Soviet Union society is transformed. His researchachievements mainly cover the new economic thinking, the mutual interaction between socialist production relations and productive forces, the socialist public ownership and its implementation mechanism, the socialist commodity-money relationship and project management, the composition and transformation of socialist economic mechanism, etc. His economic theory had a deep influence on the Soviet Union’s economic reform.
