Abstract: The transition of Russian society took place at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. During the period of transition, Russia’s development skeleton changed remarkably and was restrained by the national culture, including the national political culture. Russia’s transition was a drastic reform that relied on the upstart oligarches; the road on which Russia moved to capitalism was full of hardships and complications; Russia’s transition toward market economy had its specifi c characteristics; the self-consciousness of Russian nation was rooted in the native cultural soil.
