Abstract: The influence of geopolitical factors upon the world energy situation is striking increasingly in the world today. Energy security has become a topic of common concern and many countries have formulated one by one the energy policy for their domestic energy security while making joint efforts to strengthen cooperation by the international community has been a top priority in guaranting global energy security. Energy factors have a pivotal position in the bilateral political and economic relationships between Russia and many nations in the world. Therefore, energy diplomacy has become a principal direction in which Russia develops its foreign relations. In the forseeable future, Russia’s energy industry will certainly become an important resource by which Russia gives play to its geopolitical and foreign economic infl uence.
