Abstract: The infl uence of the Soviet Union’s constitutionalism upon China’s ran from the 1920’s to the 1950’s; the infl uence generated at every stage was different. In the 1920’s, the infl uence related to the relations between constitution, state power and democracy. In the 1930’s, it was upon constitutional kernels such as the form of government under a Soviet system, the protection of freedom and equal rights. In the 1940’s-1950’s, it centrally embodied the course of working out the constitution and its version generation in 1954. To examine the course of the influence and its expressions will contribute to the definition of future development tendency of China’s constitutionalism and promote academic innovation.
