Abstract: In the mid-50s of the 20th century, the development of sciences in Siberia was raised to unprecedented levels and became a content of the grand national economic programs of the Soviet Union. Founding Siberian Branch of Soviet Union Academy of Sciences (now Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences) was not only a new breakthrough in the sciences of Siberia, but a new starting point for Siberian development. Following the continuous development of Siberian Branch, the scientifi c research institutions became better and approached perfection day by day and the scientifi c and technological strength rapidly increased in the east area of Russia. The establishment and development of Siberian Branch also offered a powerful intellective support to the development
of Russia’s east area and set up a good international image for the area.
