Abstract: By the end of 1945, the Allies established a control-Japan mechanism at last, following the establishment of the Allies Council for Controlling Japan and the Far East Committee after the Second World War. Then, the U. S., Britain and the Soviet Union gave tit for tat and haggled over every ounce. Especially, the Soviet Union carried on an indomitable struggle with the U.S. and forced the U.S. to make concessions finally. However, the Soviet Union’s aim was not to let the Allies regulate Japan fairly, justly and effectively, but out of consideration for a fi ght with the United States for the sphere of infl uence in Asia and for the rights of controlling Japan. In this sense, the establishment of control-Japan mechanism was the result of a compromise between the U.S., Britain and the Soviet
Union in the process of competing for their interests in Asia, which embodied the nature of the great powers striving for hegemony.
