Abstract: After the mid of the 80s of the 19th century, Russian capitalism came into a monopoly stage. Economic penetration was the principle character of Russia’s Far East policy at that stage. The construction of the Trans- Siberian Railway became the crux of Russia’s Far East policy and Russia changed its strategic defensive since then. Russia’s Far East policy made a real success. The construction of the railway was also an important sign of Russia’s strategy of expansion in the Far East and had a signifi cant effect on the Far East’s international history.
