Abstract: At the beginning of the 21st century, Poland established a close “special relationship” with the United States against the new international political background. However, although Poland still remained relatively normal relations with Russia, they were beset with numerous contradictions. Poland’s strategy of “relying on the U.S. and guarding against Russia” had a deep historical root and a national petition of realistic interests and it was also a product of the comprehensive functions of the United States’ European strategy adjustment, the contradictions between the European countries and the United States as well as the United States’ Russian strategy after the Cold War. At the same time, the relationships between Poland and the United States and between Poland and Russia were connected and infl uenced each other, and refl ected the relations between the United States and Russia and were restricted by the latter. For the state of the relationships between Poland and United States and Russia, it is inevitable for Poland to be involved in the geopolitical wrestling between the United States and Russia and possible to become a victim once again. But, in terms of growing trend, the relations between Poland and the United States and Russia will move toward the direction of relative equilibrium and pragmatism.
