Abstract: People generally predict that Putin will success in the campaign for presidency. Russia’s future policies and strategies will be close with him. However, either in the West or in China, people misunderstand him in three respects: they believe that he hangs onto power or even becomes a dictator, he carries out authoritarianism and he pursues strategies against the West. Involved in the above misunderstandings over him, it is very diffi cult for people to assess him equitably and objectively and thus very hard to predict and understand Russia’s future politics and strategic choices.
