Abstract: The Soviet Union began to pay close attention to economic diplomacy and trade contacts with the Asia-Pacific countries on the eve of its collapse. After independence, Russia attached even more importance to the relations with the Asia-Pacifi c countries, but their economic cooperation was still in its infancy in the 1990s. Having entered a new century, their economic ties assumed an accelerated integration trend compared with the last decade and a serious imbalance between their economic relations and their political ties was reversed gradually. In the future, their economic cooperation will run into an express lane, their integration prospects are optimistic. The main
development direction of their cooperation is to set up free trade zones.
