Abstract: The new opportunities for exploring ocean shipping and trade as well as developing energy are the most concerns of China in the Arctic. Of all time, China can not share equal rights with the nations in the Arctic, but it is not satisfi ed with the restricted rights over the continental shelf of the Arctic. At present, China has strengthened investigations and studies in the area with the other country; Russia and China have taken the first step in this respect. Different from the US, China persists in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, but does not lay claim to the Arctic. The Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence will be China’s strategic standards in the Arctic.
