Abstract: In June 1925, a Russian philosopher Evan Irithin published his book Strong resistance to Evil in Berlin the capital of Germany, which brought about violent controversy among the intellectuals in the Russian expatriate community, of which the theoretical confrontation between Berdiaev and Irithin had theoretical depth most. This controversy occurred after the “philosophy ship event”, and to a certain degree, it was a discussion for the fi rst time about the fate of the intellectual who loved their motherland but had to leave it. The topical subject of the discussion was how Russia moved to revolution and went to carry out state regime construction. The controversy refl ected two kinds of contradictory tendencies in the course of Russian social development, i.e. a political system of despotism and an anarchism pursuit of Russian intellectuals. In the process of fi nal formation of a new social development road of Russia, Russian politicians used for reference the intellectuals’ deep thinking about the fate of their motherland and had a mind to correct the malpractice of the two contradictory tendencies in Russian political history, thereby choosing a middle ground in regime construction.
