Abstract: The primary causes of the Russian history textbook problems to come into being are as follows: 1. Russian society has serious disagreements about its own history, especially the Soviet history: 2. different political groups and forces in Russia have controversy over Russia’s present development and future direction against a background of history problems, especially the Russian government tries hard to rebuild national ideology through standardizing history textbooks; 3. Russia always has disagreements and disputes over some history problems with the West, the former Soviet bloc nations of eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics. From President Putin to Medvedev, the history textbook problems and the complicated Russian history have puzzled Russian Society all the
time and Russians argue away and they are unable to decide which is right.
