Abstract: Russian populist writers made their own creation oriented toward rural subject matter, adopted popular words and expressions used by farmers, described a lot of “new farmer fi gures”. What Russian populists did derived from the populists’ farmer standard consciousness. They were established themselves in utilitarianism aesthetics and created many typed character images in the populist literature.
