Abstract: The formation of the Russian national character is the result of many factors’ joint action, but the deep influence on the value of national concept and the attitude system of the whole society (the influence of national character formation)is the most fundamental. "The third Rome" theory and "messiah" concept soaked in the Russian's consciousness, which made the national strong "salvation" mission sense, and then turned into the sense of big-country ideal and strong nationalism. The characteristics of the Russian Orthodox church and the Russian village system, the Orthodox’s dependence on imperial power, the consistent of the Orthodox doctrine and Russian intellectual elite spirit, became the root of the Russian national characters which conclude humane, compassionate, believe in collectivism, worship of power, extremes, etc.
