The Understanding of Two Transformations of Russian Economy

Abstract:After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian economy had two transitions: in the 1990’s, from the planned economy system to market economy system; in nowadays, the economic growth mode transformed from resource dependence to the innovation and development. For the first time, Transformation used the "shock therapy" which made the Russian economy into anarchy and catastrophic place. From 2000 to 2007, Russia's economy had a strong recovery, with institutional basis, but there is no denying that the role of international raw- materials energies’ high price. However, this approach of economic growth has come to an end. In 2008, Putin made "Putin’s plan" for the long-term development of Russia, which is the development strategy before 2020. The essence of it lies in the transformation of the economic growth mode, from the raw-materials energies’ dependent development path to the innovation one; open the second transformation of the Russian economy. But the grand transformation will be a long and slow one, and suffered from the global economic crisis and the so-called "Shale Gas Revolution". The current economy speed slowed down, and lack of power. A huge challenge for the second transformation formed.
