Abstract: In the early 18 th century, with the advent of Orthodox missionaries, Russian missionaries began their lives in Beijing. Compared with the merchants, mercenaries, prisoner, Russian emigrants was a special group, which had the most significant influence in the early stage of Russia-China relation. In the 18 th century, there are eight groups of orthodox missionaries came into Beijing. When evaluating the characteristics of the Russian missionaries, people often pointed out their drinking, crude, lazy, these problems do exist in a certain extent. But this mainly because they were in a totally strange country, endured physical and mental burden. Russian missionaries lost the links with the motherland for a long time, many people dead. Despite the criticism, more than half of emigrants’ team leaders gained recognition in later. In the 18 th century, Russian missionaries in china, as the members of missionaries’ team in China, write an important and interesting page in Russia-China relations.
