The Cooperation Which Is Difficult to Achieve — The Relationship between China and the Warsaw Pact Organization

Abstract:The Warsaw Pact Organization was founded in 1955. It was a defensive political and military organization which was founded by the Soviet Union and the eastern European countries to cope with the threat aroused by the Federal Germany’s enter into NATO's. In the beginning of establishment, it gained China's full support. Then with the deterioration of Sino-Soviet relations, China saw it as a potential security threats. China's attitude towards the Warsaw Pact organization has obvious change. This judgment was based on the documents from China and the declassified documents from the Eastern European countries about Warsaw Pact organization. In the analysis, the highlight causes of the change of the position are caused by the international situation, interactive impact of foreign policy and its own interests. The Eastern European countries balanced in the process of implementing Isolation policy by the Soviet Union.
