Abstract: Leo Tolstoy has a deep sympathy towards peasants. He always keeps thinking about peasants’ problems and proposes his ideas and solutions in his political writings. At the same time, Tolstoy also in his literary works presents a panoramic picture about peasants before and after the abolishment of serfdom, and truthfully reflects their living situation, sentiments and personal character. With this, Tolstoy has brought a rich heritage to the Russian literature as well as to the world literature as a whole.
