Abstract: Across the 4300-kilometer shared border between China and Russia, there are three international railway lines that play a dominant role in the cargo transport between the two countries. In particular, almost all the cargo is transported by the Manzhouli-Zabaykalsk Line and the Suifenhe-Grodekovo Line. In regards to Chinese import- export trade balance, import goods occupy the overwhelming majority of the cargo transported on the two lines. As for the solutions for one-way loading issue of the China-Russia railway transport in recent years, much attention has been paid to the case of a Heilongjiang pilot enterprise for land-ocean cross-border transport of domestic-trade goods between China and Russia. Currently the China-Russia railway channels are facing several problems such as aging infrastructure of the branch lines connected to the main Trans-Siberian Railway, and different track gauges between the two countries. It also struggles with inefficiency at customs, entry-exit administration bureaus, and the authorities for inspection and quarantine at customs clearance checkpoints. Appropriate measures must be taken to solve each of these problems.
