Abstract:In recent years, Western political forces have been interfering with Russian society, instigating confiict between different long-existing ethnic and religious groups, which has led to a rise in unrest. In response, on one hand, Russian authorities have been modifying laws and regulations at a faster pace for strict law enforcement and intensified political crackdowns on opposition forces. On the other hand, the authorities have taken the initiative in advocating the education on patriotism and historical and cultural traditions for the youth. The move aims for more harmonious co-existence between the Orthodox Church and different religious groups, better national integration and cultural communication dominated by Russians and the Russian language, and steadfast opposition to the distorted accounts of WWII events. In particular, President Putin has issued multiple orders of garnering the whole country’s strength to compile unified history textbooks with a new historical perspective.
