Abstract:At the later stage of Soviet Union, the political restructuring guided by the doctrine of “openness” and “democracy” set off the media’s transformation and repositioning. Politically, with the transition of one party rule to the pattern of separation of the communist party and the government, multi-party system, free election and presidential system, such factors as Soviet Union’s journalism theories, communication subjects, communication contents, communication channels and even the media’s operation and management and audience orientation, etc, evolved continuously, catalyzing a media system oriented to democracy, openness and public opinion pluralism. In the new political communication pattern, the monopoly of mass media by Communist Party of Soviet Union (CPSU) was changed and the Soviet Union’s media system with the communist party’s newspapers and publications as the core started to collapse, while foreign media’s permeation and peaceful evolution intensified the social instability and catalyzed the alternation of the regime.
